Cobra’s quest to create a M.A.S.S. Device teleportation continues in this issue as both the Joe team and Cobra forces move in on one of the foremost experts in the field. Meanwhile Snake-Eyes, currently on leave, discovers he still has a thing or two he can learn from his Hard Master.

The interaction between Snake-Eyes and the Hard Master is very reminiscent of the old Marvel comic book series, while the Joes and Cobra’s quest for the M.A.S.S. Device is a nice nod to the old cartoon series. Writer Chuck Dixon does a good job here of mixing the two canons, and artist Robert Atkins is at the top of his game with the art in this issue. The opening sequence with Snake-Eyes and the Hard Master is very nicely drawn and really helps make this scene work. This issue also sees the return of Joe character Bazooka which will be a happy event for those who were upset when he was killed off in the recent G.I.Joe: Resolute cartoon series. A new Cobra operative who goes by the name Blacklight is introduced; he looks like he will be a serious thorn in the Joes side.

This issue seems to have a little bit for Joe fans new and old. I recommend you pick this one up.
